Meet Peanut! This senior brindle boy was rescued from under a house in February, and has been flourishing since in the care of his foster mom. He's about 22 pounds, chipped, neutered, leash-trained, up to date on all meds, and housebroken. Barking and shedding are minimal to non-existent. He has a chill demeanor and spends most of his time snoozing comfortably on the nearest bed or sofa. That said, nothing makes him happier than seeing his leash and knowing he's about to go for a walk (or a car ride, another favorite activity). The vet estimates Peanut to be between 9 and 10 years old. He's undergoing slow treatment for heartworms, and doing beautifully. Mister P (one of many nicknames) gets along well with other dogs of similar size and temperament (he was rescued along with his "sister," a terrier mix now adopted, and they still enjoy playdates), and is interested, but a little scared of cats. He does best in a calm, peaceful environment, so a home without young children would be ideal. He's also a bit of an escape artist, making a secure yard and exterior doors a priority. Neighbors of the house under which he was living say he was dumped there a while back, so his life until now had been far from ideal. When he was first rescued, he was scared of everyone and everything. Now, he curls up on laps, nudges hands for a head scratch, and even rolls over for belly rubs. He can be a bit wary upon meeting new people, but warms up quickly. Peanut has made incredible strides in his three months of being in a safe and loving home. Now he needs one that's permanent. Maybe it's yours? :) ***Peanut is undergoing treatment for heartworm. His potential adopters must be willing and able to provide the proper care as he completes his treatment.
