Hi there! My name is Tipton. I’m an easygoing mature guy looking for an easygoing home to call my own. I’m a handsome, sturdy red heeler mix who’s strong but gentle. I was sprung from the LaPorte shelter when a volunteer noticed what a nice gentleman I am. I have good house manners (potty, crate, and doggie-door trained) and will gladly sit and shake for treats. LIKES: Hangin’ with my people. Snacks. Pets. New friends. Dogs, cats, and kids. Naps on the sofa. Naps on the bed. Naps in the sun. (Don’t fault me if I snore a little, OK, sleeping is hard work!) Chasing squirrels, if I’m feeling ambitious. Walks of any length, as long as there are plenty of sniff stops along the way. Hey, what’s life if you don’t stop to smell the roses and pee a little along the way? DISLIKES: Being alone. Living in the shelter. Crates (although I’ll cooperate when needed). Um, what else is not to like? I’m a pretty happy guy. I get a little anxious about thunderstorms and new dogs, but once I know I’m safe, I’ll be ok. I hope I can find a friend or family who likes to take it easy and enjoy the simple things in life, somebody who’ll let me rest my head in their lap and be forever pals. If you’d like to meet me, contact my people at AJL and they’ll put it on my agenda! ***Tipton came to AJL with a mass on his left rear leg. It was removed, tested, and it was sarcoma. He had an oncology appointment where it was confirmed that the removal was clean. Sarcoma is a localized cancer which may or may not return though usually if it does, it is in the same spot as the first mass. We are happy to discuss this further with an applicant.
